What support will I get?
As a foster care for Hackney you will be allocated a fostering social worker who we often refer to as your link worker.
Foster carers care for the child twenty four hours a day so it is very important that they are well supported. You will find that there are many ways in which we support our foster carers. There are the obvious ways, such as the regular visits from your link worker. There are others which are just as valuable. For example the foster carers for Hackney receive regular training opportunities and also get a chance to talk to other carers who are only too happy to tell you how they have dealt with difficult or new situations.
Link workers can also help with obtaining essential equipment needed to care for a child.
Hackney provides all its foster carers with a generous allowance that will be sufficient to provide a good standard of care for a child or young person. These rates are examined each year to determine if they remain sufficient.
