Being approved by Hackney does not mean that only children in Care to the
London Borough of Hackney can be placed with you. If you have been waiting,
without success, for nine months after your approval, you are entitled to be
considered for potential placements through the National Adoption Register.
This would mean that you could be considered for children from any part of
the country. We also operate a Joint Adoption Register with the other North
East London authorities, (known as the North East London Adoption Group) for
adopters and children who are waiting.
Another common avenue for Inter-Agency adoption placements is the Adoption
Periodicals - Be My Parent (published by BAAF) and Children Who Wait
(published by Adoption UK), to which adopters can subscribe.
