After this meeting there will be a suitable pause for reflection for all concerned.
It is important that if a family, social worker or link worker have any doubts about a placement, and those doubts cannot be resolved by a further
consideration of the issues involved that all feel free to decline to proceed further. Many adopters feel under pressure to agree to a placement,
because they fear that turning down a proposal will lead to their being viewed less positively. This is simply not the case. We would not
approach you with a prospective placement unless we were confident that it would work for all concerned. However, we recognise that adopters will have their own views and that it is vital for the success of the placement that you feel the child or children are right for you.

If all parties are in agreement, the proposed placement will be referred to the Adoption Panel. |
|
|
Any proposed adoption placement will be presented to the Adoption Panel for a recommendation. The child's Social Worker and the Adoption Link Worker will present the appropriate papers to the Panel for their consideration. |

|
If the panel approves the next step is to plan introduction to the child and planning up to placement. |
